Control your power settings with a throttle

With the throttle, you can control your airplane's power settings.
In many occasions there is some form of throttle control available on a joystick or yoke in the form of a slider. By adding a throttle or throttle quadrant to your flight setup you gain additional axes which can be used for functions as propeller and mixture in piston- or turboprop-engine airplanes, or additional axes for a multi-engine configuration. Most throttles also have an extensive number of buttons. In the most popular flight simulators, these buttons are assigned to the most used functions (i.e., gear, flaps, or lights), but they can also be programmed to your preference manually.

As advanced flightsimmer you're probably looking to add realism to your flightsim setup. In that case (and, offcourse, if don't have rudder control yet) Rudder Pedals are a great addition.
Pedals are mainly used to control your tail rudder, a part of the vertical stabilizer of the tail (hence, the name rudder pedals). Another function of the pedals is to control the aircraft when on te ground; it is used for steering (i.e. while taxing) and braking.
Rudder Pedals are a must if you want to taxi off the runway towards the gate, while you've just 'buttered' that crosswind landing.
